Early Life Of Isy Suttie

Suttie was born to her Scottish father and English mother in Hull, England. She was brought up in Matlock, Derbyshire. Since her early age, she has always had a keen interest in acting and writing. She started pursuing her dream at the age of twelve by writing songs and playing the guitar. However, she refused to take saxophone lessons. In her teenage age, she was a member of a growing rock band Infinite Drift. Isy Suttie did her schooling at Highfields School in Matlock. 

Career 

She had great interest in acting, music, and writing. After completing her graduation, she started pursuing her dreams. Below are some notable milestones of her career: 

2000: She graduated from Guildford School of Acting and was trained as an actress. 

2001: In this year, Isy Suttie composed and directed a score of Peter Weiss’ play Marat/Sade in London’s Arcola Theatre. 

2003: She started standup comedy in which she used to perform music, standup, and stories, either by herself or by depicting a character. Isy has written and performed on many BBC radio shows, including Isy Suttie’s Love Letters on her own BBC Radio 4 broadcast. She is also a regular BBC Radio 4 Extra host of The Comedy Club and has featured on two of Tim Key’s radio shows. She wrote for the iconic teen drama Skins, under the name of a comedy consultant, for seasons 3 and 4.

2005: At the Edinburgh Fringe, Isy performed one of her stand-up acts, The Comedy Zone. 

2006: Isy Suttie acted in Dannielle Ward’s Take-a-Break Tales with Emma Fryer and Neil Edmond. 

2007: She performed her breakthrough solo stand-up show, Love Lost in the British Retail Industry, which she put on a UK tour in 2010-11, at the Sydney Arts Festival.

2008: She started her second solo Edinburgh show, “The Suttie Show.” Also, Suttie was nominated for Best Female Newcomer at the 2008 British Comedy Awards. 

2010: Isy Suttie occasionally duets with folk musician Gavin Osborn and supported Jim Bob on her tour. BBC Two’s Whites got on-air in which she played the character of a waitress called Kiki alongside Alan Davies.

2011: She played psycho killer Sorrow at the Leicester Square Theatre in the revival of Danielle Ward and Martin White’s cult musical Gutted for two performances in February and March. Besides, she took her third solo stand-up show, Pearl and Dave, to Edinburgh in August. She also performed with Jim Bob for Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People’s fourth-year event at the Bloomsbury Theatre in December. Besides, she also had her nomination for Female Breakthrough Artist. Furthermore, Isy Suttie acted in the short film that has “God of Loneliness” song directed by Chris Boyle. 

2012: She appeared at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal in July. 

1013: Suttie appeared as a special guest on the popular podcast, Answer Me This! in April alongside hosts Helen Zaltzman and Olly Mann.

2014: She got nominated for the Best Female TV Comic. 

2015: She played herself in the show “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown,” and her popular “Peep Show” of 2008 came to an end.  

2016: Her first book, The Actual One, was published by Orion in January. Besides, she also started working in the British sitcom first broadcast, Man Down. In September, she began a six-episode run on the Channel 4 TV show Damned as Natalie, a temporary receptionist

2017: Worked on her two main projects Man Down and Damned. 

2018: She completed the 12 episodes long project Damned.

She gives the voices for BBC One’s Walk on the Wild Side in addition to voicing the character of Josie The Dog in Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler’s Penelope Princess of Pets (Channel 4 Comedy Lab). Also, she provides voices for the children’s series The Revolting World of Stanley Brown. Suttie is also the voiceover of several TV commercials.
